The ECS application
processing system, APPLY, is a user-defined, powerful tool
for the accumulation, sorting, and processing of application data.
Whatever your volume or type of business, banking, retailing, utilities
or telecommunications, APPLY will provide you with the real-time
responsiveness you need. APPLY's flexibility allows it to grow and
change along with your needs. It is the only application processing
system you need, from time of initial data entry to final decisioning
and customer notification.
APPLY is a
component based, multi-tiered client-server application processing
tool that consists of the following components:
- Entry workstations
are used for keying applications and utilize GUI (Graphical User
Interface) technology. GUI technology uses pictures and icons
to represent commands.
- Builder
workstation, used for building system application templates, also
utilizes GUI technology.
- The Comm
Server resides on a UNIX hosted RISC System/6000 and forms the
main system "engine".
- DOS-based
utility for configuring Server scripts.
- DB Broker
(ODBC-compliant) for the storage of data system attributes.
Every implementation
of the APPLY system is client-defined using the Builder workstation,
an ECS-developed tool. Builder is user-friendly and provides screen
painting capabilities with the ability to create templates (application
screens). Templates are tailored for either interactive use or a
"heads down" production environment.
Each customer
is provided with product-specific application and report templates
that can be used as models for system building.
Your application
logic (scorecards, parameters, queuing logic, etc.) is used to develop
the Server scripts.
The direct
links to the credit bureaus are also handled by scripts, allowing
client-defined flexibility over bureau choice.
Once the application
template is built and running, data entry users can access the generated
application template screens built in Builder. Server requests are
automatically invoked at appropriate points within each application
template. These requests cause the screen input data to be passed
to the Server and the requested script(s) to be executed (e.g.,
request credit bureau report(s); send applications to appropriate
queues; or calculate and return a credit score based upon the client's
customized scorecard algorithms).
A systemic
audit trail, maintained in the database, is created via the Server
scripts. The audit trail consists of "date/time stamps" for all
system- and operator- generated transactions and is documented with
system-generated notes in the notes window. Operator IDs are carried
on all note entries, which are permanently attached to the application
and not modifiable.
APPLY can interface
with the user's letter-generation sub-system to provide automatic,
manual, follow-up, and welcome letters.
Security is
defined and maintained by each user. APPLY provides both company
level security and functional security by operator type.
