Two Leading Companies Join Equifax As Marketing Partners

St. Petersburg, Fla., September 23, 1996 -- Equifax Check Services today announced it had finalized marketing alliances with two leading U.S. corporations that now will offer a variety of Equifax check services to their customers.

The deals with the McKesson Corp. and Superior Bankcard Service are part of a major expansion now underway through the new Equifax Market Partners (SM) program. Equifax Check Services already is the largest check guarantee and verification service in the world.

"Our technology and capabilities are such now that we can easily add and serve the customers of our partners," said Tom Gordon, senior vice president and general manager of Equifax Check Services. "It's a win-win situation that allows our partners the flexibility of selecting Equifax services that add value to their existing product line. Our Market Partners, in turn, gain access to premier card and check transaction services while dealing with the same provider."

The McKesson Corp., a San Francisco-based "Fortune 100" company, is a leading provider of pharmaceutical and healthcare products and services to pharmacies, hospitals and healthcare networks. Its newly developed "Retail Transaction Services Network" is designed to deliver a full range of payment services to pharmacy clients and now will also offer Equifax's check authorization and collections capabilities.

Superior Bankcard Service, meantime, is an independent sales organization with more than 700 sales representatives in 44 cities nationwide. Superior specializes in the delivery of high-quality, "client friendly" credit card processing for retail merchants and now will distribute Equifax's Welcome Check (R) verification/guarantee services as an added service.

At the heart of the newly launched Market Partners program is a diversified line of Equifax services targeted for retail merchants, financial institutions and others. The products and services currently available through the program include check guarantee or verification (Welcome Check(R)); check management systems (PathWays(R)); on-line, point-of-sale credit pre-screening (Decision Power(sm)-Retail); retail collections; point-of-sale systems (terminals, MICR readers and software), and card processing at the financial institution level.
