Zakas Promoted to Corporate Treasurer
ATLANTA, January 31, 1996 -- Marietta Edmunds "Martie" Zakas, Equifax's vice president for investor relations, today was promoted to the post of corporate vice president and treasurer.
The promotion, announced by Daniel W. McGlaughlin, president & CEO, was approved by the corporation's Board of Directors during its regularly scheduled January meeting and takes effect immediately.
"Martie Zakas joined Equifax in 1993 as our vice president for investor relations and has made a tremendous contribution to the corporation in that role," said McGlaughlin. "All of us in senior management have come to value her knowledge and counsel. Given her background and performance, she is uniquely qualified for this post and I'm pleased to announce this promotion."
In her new position, Ms. Zakas will continue to oversee investor relations while also assuming responsibility for all corporate treasury, tax and capital finance functions. She will report to Donald U. Hallman, the corporation's senior vice president & chief financial officer.
Ms. Zakas is assuming the post of corporate treasurer following the assignment of Ralph F. Haygood to new, expanded duties in the area of corporate development, mergers and acquisitions. Haygood has served as Equifax's corporate treasurer since 1993.
At 37 one of Equifax's youngest senior executives, Ms. Zakas joined the company in 1993 after a distinguished career on Wall Street as an investment banker and at Holiday Inn Worldwide in Atlanta, where she served as the director of strategic planning and analysis.
Ms. Zakas worked in New York from 1984 to 1991 for Morgan Stanley and Co. Inc., where she eventually rose to the post of vice president in the Capital Market Services Group. She joined Morgan Stanley after earning a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and an MBA degree from the Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia.
A native of Richmond, Va., and a Truman Scholar, she earned a BA degree in mathematics and economics from Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Va. Ms. Zakas serves on the board of directors of St. Jude's Recovery Center and the All Saint's Child Care Center. She and her husband, Dennis, have three children and reside in northwest Atlanta.
