Equifax Increases Ownership of Chilean Joint Venture

Boosts Interest in DICOM S.A. to 50 Percent

ATLANTA, February 6, 1995 -- Continuing a strategy of international expansion, Equifax Inc. announced today it has exercised an option to increase equity ownership of its joint venture, DICOM S.A., Santiago, Chile, to 50 percent. DICOM S.A. is the leading information company in Chile, responding to more than 250,000 inquiries per day with information from more than 40 databases. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Equifax made its first joint venture in South America with Organizacion VERAZ in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1994. That same year, it acquired a 25 percent interest in DICOM S.A. Since then, Equifax has further extended its financial information services business through DICOM'S local partners in Colombia and Peru.

Thomas F. Chapman, executive vice president and group executive, Equifax Financial Services Group, said, "The partnership with DICOM over the past year and a half is one of our best examples of putting the Equifax geographic expansion strategy to work. It combines the market knowledge and a broad customer base of a local information supplier with the technology and product development support from our international experience in providing decision support solutions to our customers."

DICOM S.A. offers on-line reporting to banks, retail establishments and other commercial customers to evaluate risk in lending, opening accounts, placing mortgages and issuing credit cards. Additionally, DICOM offers numerous other information services to business and consumers including economic, medical, construction, trademark, commerce, marketing and employment opportunities.

Marco Antonio Alvarez, DICOM general manager, said, "The investment of Equifax technology in DICOM has been very important in the introduction of higher value products and services to our customers and is contributing to our expansion into other Latin American countries. This has proven to be an excellent joint venture between Chilean partners and Equifax."

According to both parties, the DICOM management team will remain in place.

Equifax Inc. (NYSE: EFX), committed to Global Information Leadership for the Information Age, is the leading provider of information services that help businesses grant credit, authorize and process credit card and check transactions, insure lives and property and control health care costs.
