Equifax Selects Local Firms For Development Of New Corporate Headquarters

ATLANTA, December 5, 1997 -- Equifax today announced the selection of the developer, architect and contractor that will form the team to build the company's new corporate headquarters in Midtown, next to Rhodes Hall, near its current site at 1600 Peachtree Street.

Companies selected are:

Atlantic Capital Properties -- Developer
Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback & Associates, Inc. -- Architects
Beers Construction Company -- General Contractor

Thomas F. Chapman, Equifax president said, "Equifax is committed to Atlanta. We are excited about the Atlanta team we have put together to build our new corporate headquarters in Midtown. We are confident they will build a building that reflects our growth and innovation as a business that is changing the shape of global commerce."

Equifax announced its intention to build a new global headquarters last month. The company plans to construct an eight-story structure containing approximately 150,000 square feet of space.

"The project team is absolutely committed to developing a facility that reflects Equifax's position as a world leader in information and processing solutions while fitting into midtown Atlanta's unique fabric of offices, historic structures, cultural centers and neighborhoods," said Jim Meyer, principal of Atlanta Capital Properties. While at Prentiss Properties, Meyer developed One Atlantic Center (IBM Tower) in Midtown and the Atlanta Federal Center in downtown Atlanta. "It's exciting to be part of another Atlanta landmark as we're sure the Equifax building will be," he added.

Ray C. Hoover III, senior principal, Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback & Associates, Inc., said, "The Equifax corporate headquarters provides a special opportunity to create an urban sentinel signifying a new gateway in midtown Atlanta. Envisioned to be respectful in its relationship with its historical neighbor, Rhodes Hall, the facility will compliment the unique landscape ambiance of this strategic area in our city." The firm has designed such Atlanta facilities as the UPS complex and the Promenade Building.

Beers Construction Company is the largest construction company in the Southeast. Among many Atlanta landmarks, Beers has built the Georgia Dome, the Centennial Olympic Stadium (now Turner Field) and NationsBank Plaza, the ninth tallest building in the world. Larry Gellerstedt III, chairman and CEO of Beers Construction Company, said, "Having built the existing Equifax headquarters building in 1956, it is a special opportunity to once again be a part of Equifax's corporate success. This facility will be an incredible addition to Equifax's Midtown presence."

The Equifax project manager is Ed Barber, vice president, real estate facilities. Equifax anticipates moving into the new facility in mid-1999, the year of Equifax's 100th anniversary.
